THE JULIET & ROMEO COCKTAIL
This was adapted from a recipe by Toby Maloney at The Violet Hour in Chicago and featured in his 2022 book The Bartender’s Manifesto. Which is…a bold title, especially in today’s day and age. For this cocktail you will need:
3 slices of cucumber
1 pinch of kosher salt
6-8 fresh mint leaves
2 oz. (60 ml) London dry gin
NOTE: It says London dry gin, but I think, given the other ingredients, Hendricks gin would work really well here.
¾ oz. (45 ml) fresh lime juice
½ oz. (30 ml) 2-1 simple syrup
Muddle cucumber and salt in a shaker.
Add all the other ingredients and shake with ice.
Double strain into a chilled coupe glass
Add 3 drops of rose water and a dash of Angostura bitters.
Garnish with mint leaves and a cucumber wheel.
