This cocktail has been created online many times, as it is a fictional drink from season 6, episode 1 of Cheers. THE SCREAMING VIKING. Not only is it a fictional drink because it’s on a sitcom from the 80s, it’s a fictional drink in the world of Cheers.
o The only thing we know for sure about the drink is that it involves a bruised cucumber
· 4 slices of cucumber (this one is from my garden)
· 2 oz. (60 ml) gin
· 1 oz. (30) cognac
· 2 dashes celery bitters
· ½ oz. (15) simple syrup (equal parts sugar/water)
· ½ oz. (15) lime juice
· 1 bar spoon honey
o I included this because Vikings had only mead and beer, no distilled spirits, and honey was a staple of these beverages
· A pinch of kosher salt
o Muddle 3 slices of cuke with the salt in a shaker
o Combine all other ingredients
o Shake with ice
o Double strain into a rocks glass
o Garnish with the remaining wheel of cucumber
This was a drink created solely to end a bartender's career. RIP Wayne.
