Since this episode opens up on the ocean, I thought we should have something to stave off the scurvy. I remember this being quite popular in the summer when we worked at the club. Today we have:
THE SALTY DOG
For this cocktail you will need:
2 oz. (60 ml) vodka or gin
I went with gin because aside from Bloody Marys, I don’t really see the point of drinking vodka, and according to my research the origination of this cocktail in the 1920s used gin
3 oz. (90 ml) fresh grapefruit juice
You can build this drink in a glass if you suck, but since there’s fruit juice involved it demands to be shaken, in my mind. It’s not a complicated drink, but we gots to have some law. Rub some lime juice on the glass and rim with salt. Basically this drink is just a Greyhound with a salt rim.
Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice and I garnished it with a sprig of rosemary, which I think is a really fun addition, scent wise, with the grapefruit.
