In accordance with the theme of this episode, today’s drink is The Gold Rush Cocktail! This is a fairly new recipe created at the famed NYC Milk & Honey bar in the early 2000s. It’s made in a classic 3-ingredient pre-prohibition style.
· 2 oz. (60 ml) bourbon (Four Roses)
· 1 oz. (30) honey syrup
o This can be just a 1-to-1 honey to water, but I made this one 2-to-1 honey to water
§ You just heat it up on the stove and store it in the fridge, because honey is hard to mix into a drink
· ¾ oz. (22) fresh lemon juice
· Shake with ice and strain over a large ice cube in a double rocks glass
· Garnish with a lemon peel
o I didn’t use this because I not only find it superfluous, but too much citrus up front…and I made the mistake of juicing all my lemons last night before I pulled lemon peels
