This episode will come out a few days after the new year, but we’re recording it on December 12th, so I thought we’d have a nice New Year’s Eve-style cocktail. So we’ve got a variation on the French 75:
THE BITTER FRENCH
Created by Phil Ward at Death & Co in 2008, this is both an excellent celebratory cocktail and an introduction into Campari.
· 1 oz. (60 mL) gin
· ¼ oz. (7.5 mL) Campari
· ½ oz. (15 mL) lemon juice
· ½ oz. simple syrup
· Dry champagne
o Shake all ingredients (except champagne) with ice
o Strain into a flute glass
o Top with champagne
o Squeeze a grapefruit twist over the drink and discard twist
o No garnish
